Think about your favorites… your favorite outfit, foods, people, products, places, things to do. Identify and bring awareness to what brings you joy, comfort and peace. Then intentionally fill your life with favorite. Live your favorite life.

And yes, I’d love to be on my favorite vacation on the beach in Mexico drinking margaritas all day. But that is my favorite vacation. I am talking about the daily small things in our lives.

My husband works a labor-intensive job. He wears steel toe boots and works long hours on hot summer days. Socks seem like a small thing, but they make a big difference. I noticed that I was washing the same socks repeatedly. I was then putting them back into the overflowing drawer, on top of those he chooses not to wear first. Why did we even have the rest? Because he did not have enough pairs of his favorite socks to make it through the next load of laundry. I emptied the drawer, put back only his favorite pairs, purchased another pack of them and donated/purged the rest. That 15 minutes and $15 was well worth him keeping a clear and focused mind with each step while working. It also took away that cringe I would feel before playing an unwanted game of sock Tetris. And if you are wondering, these are his favorite socks from Amazon. And we did the same for his work pants drawer which are filled with these.

You hear the saying, “Buy one in every color” … I am here to tell you “Buy more of the same color” … even better, “Stock up when they are on sale”. Think of that item you loved, your absolute favorite that you wore or used until it no longer properly functioned. You did not want to part with it because you have been sadly searching for its replacement with no avail. Prevent that, have a backup. My favorite pair of Cole Haan Zero Grand shoes came in leopard. I loved them. I later saw them go on sale and bought three more pairs before they were discontinued. I wore those shoes as often as I could for several years. I cracked open my last fresh pair this last year and am thankful I could enjoy them four times longer before switching to my next favorite black pair. If only I had done that with my favorite coffee mug that broke…

Call me habitual. Call me particular. I am both, I have honed in on my very particular favorites and do and use them as often as I can. Following my theory of filling my life with favorite has reduced my thoughts of disappointment in my mind. It has instead kept me clear and focused on being present and working towards my goals. I have prioritized which are most important to me and for which I am saving to purchases or upgrade in the future. I’m not saying that you should not have variety in life. I am saying, be curious and learn new things in the pursuit of finding and improving your favorites.

This has also helped me in my decision making for spending my money. I know what is at the top of my list and in order of priority to purchase or do next. I then spend time researching, getting recommendations and waiting for sales to maximize my money. This has helped to reduce buyer’s remorse, impulse purchases and I can justify exactly why I chose to spend.

How to Cultivate your Favorite Life:

1. Identify and list your current favorites (what brings you joy, comfort and peace).

2. Add what you could you do to quickly improve or upgrade your current processes.

3. Prioritize your list in order of what you would invest your time or money into.

4. Research those top items or how to’s to identify what exactly you would buy or do.

5. Decide and plan the best time to complete.

6. Recognize and appreciate your new favorite upgrade.

Please share both your current favorites and areas of opportunity with me! Always looking for ideas and inspiration. <3

I did this with my kitchen towels … it was the end of a long day sorting/cleaning. My towel drawer was an overflowing dumping ground.. You asked me, What is your favorite towel? I was dumbfounded because I had never really thought of it… After you asked me again, I dug down and found you my favorite towel. I looked at the rest, very overused, a lot of ones I just didn’t care for. So I researched and found more of my favorite towels at a great price and purchased them in every color they came in! How funny! I now have a perfect towel drawer in my kitchen with a beautiful stack of my favorite towels, it’s always perfect and your method has me wanting to do that to so many other areas of my life -Thank you!!! ♥️🧼🧺🎉
